The 2 Factor Authentication “error” in your LinkedIn data source
The 2 Factor Authentication “error” in your LinkedIn data source

In this article, you will learn about LinkedIn’s recent security update, which introduces two-factor authentication (2FA).

Updated over 2 months ago

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your LinkedIn account by requiring two steps to log in.

How This Affects Your Swydo Connection:

If you already connected LinkedIn to Swydo before enabling 2-factor in your LinkedIn account, you may encounter issues when adding a new data source or seeing data in your widgets. This is because when enabling 2-factor authentication, LinkedIn wants to make sure we’re still allowed to retrieve your data for you. By reauthorising your LinkedIn connections in Swydo, you simply tell them you still have access to the connection and all is OK.

What You Can Do:

To restore your LinkedIn data in Swydo, you have two options to
Enable the Two-factor authentication either via your:

1. Authenticator App: This method uses an app-based authentication code. You’ll need a phone compatible with an authenticator app, such as Microsoft Authenticator

2. Phone Number (SMS): You’ll need a phone capable of receiving SMS (text) messages. The phone number you enter to turn on two-step verification won’t appear on your LinkedIn profile. Note: Carrier charges may apply.

For more information, please go to the following link on how to enable (activate) the authenticator:

Once you have enabled the 2FA then please reauthorize the connection within Swydo.

Important Note:

We cannot disable two-factor authentication on your behalf, nor can we request an exemption from this security measure. Your assistance is required to ensure your LinkedIn connections function properly in Swydo.

Enabling or disabling two-step verification on your LinkedIn.com account will not affect your ability to log in to LinkedIn.com. However, if you use LinkedIn Recruiter, Campaign Manager, or Sales Navigator, you must enable two-step verification on your LinkedIn.com account to access these platforms. You also need to be an Admin in the company's LinkedIn account to be able to access the data.

If you disable two-step verification on LinkedIn.com, you will lose access to Recruiter, Campaign Manager, and Sales Navigator until it is re-enabled.

For instructions on how to disable two-factor authentication for your entire LinkedIn account, please refer to this guide:
